Degasser is also known as carbon remover for its principle of action is to blow free CO2 out through the wind turbine in liquid.
On the one hand, a degasser can reduce the corrosion of boiler and filter by avoiding CO2 in the water which produce carbonic acid to corrode the containers behind them in the process train. On the other hand, if used in anion exchanger, it can reduce the load of anion exchanger, improve the economy of chemical desalination process and water quality.
In general, if the HCO3- content of water is >50mg/L, a set of carbon remover can make the water CO2 content <5mg/L.
The structure of degasser is mostly a cylindrical packing tower, which is composed of water distribution device, packing layer (polyhedral hollow plastic ball, corrugated plate, etc.) and air blast device (decarburizing fan). Water enters the degasser body from the top, and is evenly sprayed by the water distribution device to form a water film on the packing surface. Through the packing layer the water fully contacts with air and flows into the lower gathering tank (intermediate tank). The air is pumped in from the bottom of the tower by a blower and is expelled from the top along with carbon dioxide from the water.
